What started out as a sketch on a napkin over a few beers and an appetizer, resulted in the realization of their dream home.
After finding the ideal 10 acre parcel of land to build on (completely by accident) the design ideas began to flow. Always appreciating the sense of the traditional American farmhouse, we toured the State taking photos, creating sketches and gathering ideas. The result is a two story, 2,880 SF home with full basement with walk out access. A wrap around porch with exposed metal roof was used to capture the sound of the rain, while staying dry. Unlike most traditional farmhouses, the floor plan was designed utilizing open spaces and vaulted ceilings in the great room. The nine round windows that accent the tall walls in the great room echo a nautical theme of ship "portholes". Energy efficient ideas that were incorporated include; zoned radiant concrete floors, 6" exterior walls and East/West orientation to maximize solar gain. Interior finishes include; handmade Amish maple doors, maple wood floors and granite countertops throughout.
